In the final Super Smash Bros. Infinite Direct on November 202X, Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that there will be downloadable content for the game. However, unlike previous entries, downloadable content will come in the form of Smash Seasons, which include a number of Bundles that not only include new Fighters, Stages, Music and Spirits like Ultimate. However, bundles can also include new Assist Trophies, new Bosses, new Items, and new SmashScape furnishings, amongst others. Players can either purchase individual Bundles, or purchase an entire Season altogether.

Furthermore, there are two new functions to DLC: SmashBack is one such function, allowing players who have purchased a Smash Season to choose not to download or own unwanted content in exchange for in-game content. Trial Periods are limited-time in-game events that allow players who haven't purchased a Season to play as a character for free three days before the final launch of a character, as a means to give them a chance to decide whether or not they wish to purchase that character's Bundle.

Fighters[]

As every veteran is in the base game and none were cut, all DLC characters are newcomers.
