Athena
Psycho Soldier Theme

(Original Japanese / Overseas Version)

A remix of the end credits theme to Psycho Soldier, another SNK side-scrolling platformer, and the spiritual successor to Athena. It is notable for being the first video game song to have lyrics. It is done in an orchestral rock style that is meant to mimic 80's anime theme songs. In the Japanese version, it keeps the original's three verses, while the English version replaces the second verse with a saxophone solo and repeats the first verse for the last part of the song. The vocals for both are performed by Kanako Kotera. See below for lyrics. Arrangement Supervisor: Yuzo Koshiro

Composition: SNK CORPORATION

Arrangement: Ancient-corp.

Assault Theme - METAL SLUG 1-3 A faithful rendition of the boss battle theme that plays when facing off against several antagonists including Hairbuster Riberts and General Morden in Metal Slug, Dragon Nosuke in Metal Slug 2, and Hi-Do and the fake General Morden in Metal Slug 3. It keeps the original's orchestral style while adding some synths into the instrumentation. Brief snippets of the main theme from the first Metal Slug can also be heard throughout the mix. Arrangement Supervisor: LindaAI-CUE

Composition: SNK CORPORATION

Final Attack - METAL SLUG 1-6 A recurring song heard in several final missions and final boss fights throughout the Metal Slug series. These include the final mission of Metal Slug, against the Rungame mothership in Metal Slug 2, against RootMars in Metal Slug 3, against the Avatar of Evil in Metal Slug 5, and during the final mission of Metal Slug 6. The one heard in Ultimate is directly ripped from Metal Slug 5.

Despite the title and the in-game source list, the song does not actually appear in Metal Slug 4 as the final boss of that game, "The Doctor" of the Amadeus Syndicate, is given his own theme.

Athena’s name is magic

Mystery, it’s what you’ll see

Her crystal is the answer

Fighting fair to keep us free

She’s just a little girl with power inside, burning bright

You better hide if you are bad, she’ll get you

She’ll read your mind and find if you believe in right or wrong

Fire! Fire! Psycho Soldier
