—Description from the Super Smash Blog.
Phoenix (龍一, Ryuuichi) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Infinite. He was officially revealed during a Nintendo Direct as the second downloadable fighter in the First Smash Season Pass, as part of the A Smashing Turnabout Bundle. Phoenix is classified as Fighter #104.
Sam Riegel reprises his role as voice provider in Super Smash Bros. Infinite with brand new voicelines for the character in overseas versions of the game, while Takayuki Kondo reprises his role as voice provider in Japanese versions of Infinite.
Phoenix winds up, takes a deep breath and shouts "OBJECTION" with his finger point forward, summoning a speech bubble with red text. It deals only 7% of damage and small knockback, but when he gets hit during the windup start, he will immidietely counter with this attack, dealing 1.2x the damage. It also helps that it adds a 0.1x damage plus if he has a piece of Evidence. By pressing Side Special during this, he raises his arm upward before pointing forward and shouts "Take That!", summoning the speech bubble like OBJECTION!. While it doesn't have counter properties than the former, and the speech bubble being smaller, its very fast and deals more damage.
Side Special
Missile
Missile the dog pounces out of Phoenix's magical hammerspace. Missile acts similar to a Assist Trophy, but more on the projectile side, as he will pounce towards the opponent if he hits them, then jumps to Phoenix if he is nearby, so you need to press the button again to command him to bounce off of, after that, he dissapears. When Phoenix is far away, Missile won't do anything and just waits here until Phoenix gets close. It is used to extend his combos and to be a K.O. option for the second attack at high percentage
Up Special
Stepladder
Pulls out a Stepladder from his back and climbs upwards. It is basically similar to Villager's Tree as the stepladder can be knocked down to damage its foes while falling down, though faster. In the air, Phoenix will throw a Rope Ladder to cling on the ledge of the platform, proceeding him to climb up. The rope deals no damage.
Down Special
Evidence
Pulls out an evidence from his suitcase to use it against his opponent. There are 12 evidences to throw: The Thinker, Sacred Urn, Shichishito, Carbonated Water Bottle, Autopsy Report, Wiretap, Attorney’s Badge, Metal Detector, Polly, Music Disk, Luminol Fluid, and a Seashell Pattern Card. Think Bonus Fruit, but one of the items will be used once, unless Shield + B is pressed to gain a random piece of evidence.
The Thinker - Throws it in an overhead arc, stunning the opponent for 1 second.
Sacred Urn - Throws it in a short distance. When it hits an opponent or a surface, it breaks, flinging shards in various directions.
Shichishito - Swings the sword forward in an arc. It pretty slow, but has long range and large output damage.
Carbonated Water Bottle - Creates a small puddle when throwned that stays there for 2 seconds, damaging the opponent overtime when close.
Autopsy Report - A Counter move. When triggered, it causes 0.6x per damage, but he can autoturn torwards the opponent that triggered it for 15 seconds.
Wiretrap - Deals weak damage and knockback when throwned, but it has a lock-on effect for his other projectiles for 12 seconds.
Attorney’s Badge - It doesn't do anything with it but to left Phoenix opened to be attacked.
Metal Detector - Throwned forward to do decent damage and knockback.
Polly - Flaps his wings and flies in whatever direction he’s thrown in for a few seconds.
Music Disk - A quick projectile attack that causes temporary bleeding damage.
Luminol Fluid - Takes the item out and sprays it forward. Anyone close by the spray will get a blue glow that reduces their output damage by 2.5x.
Seashell Pattern Card - Spins the item around and haphazardly toss it behind him. The card has short range and slow start-up, but if it hits the closest opponent, it deals a tremendous 24% damage that spikes them down from the air. On the ground, the opponent will be hit up.
Unlike Bonus Fruit, it doesn't reset back to the first evidence, as it will continue where it left off.
Throws his Magatama forward. Anybody hit by the gem will be locked by the Psyche-Lock, triggering a cutscene where they stand on the defendant desk as Phoenix says "Your fingerprints were at the scene of the crime! You make no attempt to reform yourself!", shocking the opponents and look desperate. Phoenix will then shout "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" while raising his finger forward, ending with a giant Judge smashing the opponents with his gravel behind them, while they look completely at wits end. After it ended, Phoenix says "I rest my case" as he adjustes his shirt.
