Super Smash Bros. Infinite (大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ Infinite, Great Fray Smash Brothers Infinite) is the seventh installment in the Super Smash Bros. series and is set to be released for consoles on November 21st, 20XX. A rerelease, titled Super Smash Bros. Infinite Beyond, was released with extra content on December 18th, 20XX.
Characters[]
The game currently consists of 91 characters. All 85 fighters from the previous six games have returned for this installment. To date, there are a total of six new characters. Echoes are slated to return which includes Octoling.
Isaac, Bandana Waddle Dee, Octoling, Waluigi, Crash, and Stylist were revealed at E3 20XX including gameplay presentations and highlights by game director, Masahiro Sakurai. Following this, an August Nintendo Direct aired which revealed Ashley. Palutena’s Echo Fighter, Medusa was revealed during a small presentation trailer which was uploaded to Nintendo’s official Twitter account. Barista was revealed during an October Nintendo Direct. Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy from the series Resident Evil were revealed during the December Game Awards. Following that, Takamaru was revealed as a revived retro rep after being promoted from an Assist Trophy during a February Nintendo Direct. Galacta Knight was revealed as an Echo Fighter for Meta Knight on both the official Twitter accounts for Super Smash Bros. Infinite and the Kirby series in March. In mid-April, a Super Smash Bros. Infinite Direct was announced for April 28th. It revealed the pair Grovyle & Celebi from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and DJ Octavio as both a newcomer as well as a boss in Wishing Stars, Smash Dungeon, and certain Classic Mode routes. Finally, Reimu Hakurei was revealed at the end of the April Smash Direct as the third Third Party character and first indie representative. During the E3 20XX Nintendo Direct, Astral Chain's Officer Howard was revealed as the next character with an alternate costume for the female avatar. Subsequently, the Direct ended yet again with a new character, Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog.

Gameplay changes[]
- Players can toggle which Poké Ball Pokémon and Assist Trophies can be made available prior to a match.
- A fourth directional taunt, Left, has been included for all characters.
- All-Star Mode and Classic Mode has been revamped slightly.
- Rollback Netcode has been implemented for online play
- victory screens more akin to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
Character-specific changes[]
- Young Link received a total character redesign.
- Mario received a new Side and Down Special
- Samus received a slight revamp to her moveset to reflect more recent games
- Ganondorf has received a moveset overhaul which sets him further apart from his connections of Captain Falcon
- Donkey Kong received a new set of special moves and revamps.
- Hero now can see which spells they choose based on icons pulled from the Dragon Quest series.
